The Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance (SDTA) was established in 1934) to further the interests of the art of dancing; to ensure that members are conversant with current accepted techniques and principles; and to uphold a Code of Professional Conduct.

The Highland Dancers' Association of Ontario was founded in 1949 with a view to promoting Highland Dance and Scottish culture and to improve the conditions for dancers at Highland games in Ontario.
